The 11-speed SLX rear derailleur is in no way inferior to the XT rear derailleur in terms of function and switching performance, only the slightly higher weight could be considered a minus point.
Like its big brother from Shimano’s top range, it always delivers quick and smooth gear changes. With the revised Shadow + technology, the pretension of the chain can be adjusted in two stages using a small lever on the rear derailleur. So you can decide whether the chain should run more smoothly with less chain tension, or whether it should be tightened for rough terrain. The shadow construction reduces the lateral overhang of the rear derailleur and thus reduces the risk of the rear derailleur getting caught on sticks and stones.
The pulleys used with sealed bearings run very cleanly and guarantee a long service life!
